VERIDIA released their latest single, “Light It Up,” on September 24.
With the release, lead singer Deena took to social media to share her personal thoughts and a story that inspired the song. She wrote about advocating for reform, and her desire to see such in the criminal justice system. This is a topic that hits close to him for her, as she has an uncle with a traumatic brain injury who was mistreated by law enforcement. “I have been inspired by so many pushing through tragedy in support of one another. That ‘light’ within starts by taking the time to listen, empathize, and learn how we can relate to one another, and that spark becomes a flame of compassion, creating an environment where everyone can feel safe, seen, heard, and valued… I know we can get there,” Deena shared. “Light It Up” is a call to unite and take a stand, because that light we possess is contagious and can spread like fire. It can drive us to make a difference and use our voices for the good of others, rather than just sit apathetically on the sidelines. The song is musically light and mostly electronic until the first chorus, when we are given a hint of the VERIDIA rock sound that fans are familiar with from their early work.
