Buried Above, the up-and-coming rock project helmed by Colton Reed, has released the new single “It’s Never Too Late” accompanied by a music video. The video (directed by Joel Burris) debuted via major metalcore YouTube channel Spaceuntravel. You can listen to and watch the video for “It’s Never Too Late” below.
The song itself was cowritten by Colton Reed and Josiah Prince and Andrew Stanton of Disciple. Josiah also mixed and mastered the song. The result is a polished, upbeat hard rock anthem centered firmly on a message of hope. The guitars are balanced by hopeful keyboard fills, and Colton Reed offers vocals that are quickly maturing into a force to be reckoned with. As the video shows visually, the lyrics explore themes of grief, regret, and the ultimate assurance that there is still life left for us, even in our darkest moments. The compassionate chorus pleads “just promise that you’ll stay, ’cause it’s never too late.”
It’s a message that feels extra timely during Suicide Prevention Month. “This video is a message of hope for anyone who struggles with depression, self harm, or suicidal thoughts,” Colton shared alongside the video debut. “Every day, we face very real problems that affect us in very real ways. But there is always someone willing to listen. There’s always arms to fall into. Some of us find that trust in a family member, or a close friend. Some find it in the comfort of Jesus Christ. If you’re having suicidal thoughts, please remember that you are loved by so many people. We’re glad you’re here and this world would not be the same without you! Please do not hesitate to let someone you trust know that you are struggling. Someone is always listening.”
